So sticking with the review theme that I’ve been on for the past few days, I’m gonna review a few albums that I’ve been listening to lately! All the songs I mention are linked to a YouTube video where you can listen. They should all open in a new window, so you can easily return to this page after you listen – or even while you’re listening! :)

So, there are three reviews below of three VERY different artists…

So Enjoy!

Katy Perry – Teenage Dream

REVIEW: I love this entire album – no kidding. Very rarely do I actually like an entire album; I’ll like some songs and detest others, but Katy Perry did really well with this album! My favorite at the moment is “Pearl” (video below). The thing I love about this album is it’s diversity. There are awesome songs to dance and scream-sing to like “California Gurls” (weird music video IMHO) or “Teenage Dream“, but then there are also these songs like “Pearl” and “Not Like The Movies” (favorite lyric: “Snow White said to me when I was young, “one day my prince will come”, so I wait for that date.”) that just…speak to your heart and so great to listen to just while lying around. Her voice really shines through in those songs as well – all-in-all…GREAT new album. 2 thumbs up.

“She was a hurricane
But now she’s just a gust of wind
She used to set the sails of a thousand ships
Was a force to be reckoned with”

Mumford & Sons – Sigh No More

REVIEW: I was introduced to Mumford & Songs very recently – just a few months ago actually. Then Charlotte made me a playlist with a couple of their songs on it and I just had to download the entire album. And let me just say – it’s GREAT. The album is very “folksy” in my opinion and I love the singer’s voice – kinda scratchy at some parts – I love it. Not to mention the relatively different (from mainstream music these days) choice of instruments just makes it that much better! My favorites are “Little Lion Man,” “Awake My Soul,” and “After the Storm” (video below). I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to “After the Storm” – actually I can…iTunes keeps up with that stuff – I’ve played it 18 times in the past 2 weeks. hahaha! It’s just relaxing and at times upbeat but at times makes you wanna cry. Great songs should evoke emotions – and these certainly do.

“And there will come a time, you’ll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.”

Miranda Lambert – Revolution

REVIEW: This album is country…so don’t let anyone tell you differently. haha. (not that anyone would!) Miranda has a very pronounced country twang, and to tell you the truth…I love it. Reminds me of home ;) – and when I’m 5000 miles away from the place I lived for 98% of my life so far, I’ll take what ┬ámemory-triggers I can get!

The album as a whole is pretty great. There are, of course, a few songs that I like more than others – such as “The House That Built Me” that I posted HERE a while ago, then I also like “Me & Your Cigarettes,” “White Liar,” “Heart Like Mine,” and “Airstream Song” (video below).

“Unanchored in the storm
Or safely on the shore
If this is all I need, why do I want more”

Greatchadayis!
