    So it’s been a while since I’ve done a music-related post…So here’s one :) This is what I’ve been listening to recently!

     I Don’t Wanna Be a Bride – Vanessa Carlton

    U-Turn (Lily) – Aaron

This song was actually featured on a French movie I’ve been watching recently: Je Vais Bien, Ne t’en Fais Pas (I’m okay, don’t worry). I really love the song…favorite line: “it’s not the wings that make the angel…”

Gonna Get There – Tim Knol

So you’ll have to ignore the weirdness and potentially disturbing nature of this music video…I really enjoy the song, and I tried to find a good recording of it on YouTube minus this crazy video…but alas, all of them were live and they sounded horrible. So just enjoy the song and ignore the music video. hahaha

    The City – Patrick Wolf

Close your eyes and you’ll feel like you’re in the 80’s ;)

[EDIT: actually, upon re-watching the video, you don’t even have to close your eyes…this video looks like it was shot (AWESOMELY) with an Ampex! hahaha! By the way, also worth noting, the caption of that photo is “first ever portable VHS Camcorder”….that certainly seems debatable…only 50 lbs and just $65,000]

    Wavin’ Flag – K’NAAN

“When I get older, I will be stronger – they’ll cal me freedom, just like a wavin’ flag!”

    Different Story – Lola Kite

Y’all have a great day now, ya hear?

    Ellie Goulding

    Posted in: Music

I was first introduced Ellie Goulding while searching the UK Top 100 list – her cover of Elton John’s famous song, Your Song, was towards the top. I immediately downloaded the song after watching the video on youTube (included below)…I don’t usually like covers, as it’s always hard to beat the original! I don’t claim to think Ellie beat Elton, but she added a whole new dimension to the song.

A couple of weeks after I discovered her, she appeared on Saturday Night Live performing Your Song and Lights (also included below). I had to get the entire album – her voice, her songs, the beats…very original and unique.

I rarely find an album where I actually enjoy every single song…but with Ellie Goulding’s album Bright Lights, I’ve found one…with so many of the songs, you can either dance your heart out or cry your eyes out. Maybe even both! Have a listen to the songs below…then go buy the whole album – you won’t regret it!

    Enjoy the songs below:

    Your Song

“I hope you don’t mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is now you’re in the world”

    Under The Sheets

“In our house made of paper…”

    Lights

“So I tell myself that I’ll be strong…”

    Human

“I am so scared of what will kill me in the end for I am not prepared; I hope I will get the chance to be someone.”

    The Writer

“Why don’t you be the artist and make me out of clay?”

    Enjoy! Have a great week!

This will probably be my last post until my exams are over at the end of the month…Cross your fingers and wish me luck! :D

Quick post here! These are the songs I’ve been listening to on repeat this week:

    Brandi Carlile

    Turpentine

“I watch you grow away from me in photographs
    And memories like spies
And salt betrays my eyes again
I started losing sleep and gaining weight
And wishing I was was ten again
So I could be your friend again”

    Brandi Carlile

    Hiding My Heart

“You dropped me off at the train station
And put a kiss on top of my head
    You watched me wave
    You watched me wave
Then you went on home to your skyscrapers
    Neon lights and waiting papers
    That you call home
    You call it home”

    Stacia Petrie

    What you’re Looking For

“You say you’ll come back a better man than before
Don’t you know I love the man who left a year ago?
All this time gone, are you ever coming home?
I hope you find you’re looking for”

    Adele

    Someone Like You

“You know how the time flies
Only yesterday was the time of our lives
    We were born and raised
    In a summer haze
Bound by the surprise of our glory days”

    Train

    Brick by Brick

“The sky has made it back to blue,
everything that’s left is telling us the worst of it is through.
Home has never felt so right, there’s nothing in the way.
    There’s nothing in between us
knowing where we’re going is inside.
    Every letter that I wrote,”

    Mumford & Sons

    The Cave

    “‘Cause I need freedom now,
And I need to know how,
To live my life as it’s meant to be”

    Enjoy,

    Music Monday!

    Posted in: Music

Today’s Music Monday is brought to you thanks to this SNL skit:

Here is the whole song – most of the songs on her albums only use songs that can be made with the human body – no instruments!  :)

    Hope you enjoyed!

Sorry about forgetting Music Monday! So I just made a new category for when that happens: Tuesday’s Tune…hahaha.

    I can’t get enough of this song…

    “I’ve been to Hollywood, I’ve been to Redwood;
I crossed the ocean for a heart of gold.
I’ve been in my mind, it’s such a fine line,
That keeps me searching for a heart of gold.
And I’m getting old…Keeps me searching
for a heart of gold…and I’m getting old.”

    Greatchadayis,
